Korea Post Parcel Delivery Drop-Off Service is a convenient system where a courier visits your home to pick up and deliver your package or mail. Many people use this service for various reasons, such as working people or children who don’t have time to go out to send packages, people with disabilities, or items that are too heavy to carry.
I also needed to send a package this week, but the persistent rain didn’t allow me to drive four large boxes to the post office, so I tried the Korea Post Parcel Delivery Drop-Off service this time.
I’ll explain how to apply for Korea Post Parcel Delivery Drop-Off Service, my experience using it, things to keep in mind when dropping off packages, and the delivery fees. I hope this will be helpful to those who are considering using it.

+ Tips on measuring the weight of your package at home! I packed the package to be shipped, but I couldn’t estimate its weight. So, I weighed the package on my scale at home, holding it in kg, and then subtracted my own body weight to determine the weight within the range. (i.e., weight carrying the package – my weight = weight.)
* The maximum weight is 30 kg. The rate is based on the larger weight. So, if the package weighs 15 kg, select 20 kg. + Post Office Delivery Box Sizes by Type
No. 1: 22cm + 19cm + 9cm = 50cm
No. 2: 27cm + 18cm + 15cm = 60cm
No. 2-1: 35cm + 25cm + 10cm = 70cm
No. 3: 34cm + 25cm + 21cm = 80cm
No. 4: 41cm + 31cm + 28cm = 100cm
No. 5: 48cm + 38cm + 34cm = 120cm

| Post Office Drop-off Delivery Fee
This service involves a postal worker visiting the customer’s desired location to pick up the package. The delivery fee for drop-off is slightly higher than for directly sending the package at the post office counter. For next-day delivery, the following fees apply: ₩5,000 for items under 80cm and 5kg; ₩8,000 for items under 100cm and 10kg; ₩10,000 for items under 120cm and 20kg; and ₩13,000 for items under 160cm and 30kg. Fees may vary or be subject to a fee if the actual package differs from the actual item. If you choose to pay the delivery fee on delivery, a ₩500 cash-on-delivery fee will be added.
Also, please note that for next-day delivery to Jeju Island, an additional 2,500 won will be added to the above rates.
| Actual Review of Korea Post’s Door-to-Door Delivery
I carefully collected my Korea Post boxes and packaged them when requesting door-to-door delivery. I requested four boxes: three No. 5 boxes and one No. 4 box. After securely packaging them, I applied for door-to-door delivery using the method described above, wrote the recipient’s name on the top left corner of the box, and stacked them.
When I requested door-to-door delivery the day before, the estimated pickup time was between 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM the next day. The next morning, I received a KakaoTalk notification with the exact pickup time. Ten minutes later, I received a notification that the package had been picked up, along with an online receipt.
When I booked the door-to-door delivery service, I received a discount of 500 won per package, for a total of 2,500 won, which was the estimated delivery fee.
When I came back, there was a waybill left at my door.
You can track packages picked up by door-to-door delivery on the post office website, or by going to “In-Person Delivery/Office Parcels > In-Person Delivery Parcels > Delivery Tracking.”
The delivery fee felt like it was 3,000-4,000 won more than visiting the post office and sending it in person. About two months ago, I filled a size 5 box with similar contents (baby clothes and other items) and sent it in person. It cost 6,000 won for the in-person delivery, but with the discount, it was 9,500 won. Shipping costs may vary depending on the weight of the item, but please refer to the shipping fees for the size 5 box at the post office!
Still, I’m very satisfied with being able to simply send a large, heavy box without having to meet face-to-face, just by leaving it in front of my house on rainy or very hot days.
